Bridget Johnson is an eighteen-year-old motivational filmmaker and Youtuber. She studies as a freshman film student at DePaul University. She fell in love with the craft when her dad bought her a little red Nikon Coolpix. She would gather her friends on weekends or after school and film horror short films which she filmed in only a few hours. She became the first person to start a filmmaking club at her high school. As a freshman in high school, she attended her first film festival (Schaumburg Film Festival) for her inspiring anti-bullying drama film focusing on suicide, Depressed.Scared.Alone. and won first place.
The summer of 2015, she took a risk and worked on her first feature horror anthology film, Storytime with Into the Void Films. She conquered her fear of cemeteries and explored Chicago’s most famous urban legend ghost, Resurrection Mary. Sadly, Into the Void Films backed out of the feature. Even at a young age, Bridget has always never given up, so she continued to work on her part of the film, Death is not the End. Casting professional actors/actresses, scouting locations, and long hours of hard work filming and editing she got Death is not the End distributed on VHX. In Spring 2016, she won MMEA (Midwest Media Educators Association) film festival with first place for movie trailers for her comedy, The Classroom. In Spring 2017, she won the MMEA Film Festival with the Lucas Palermo Scholarship and won third place for her PSA about catfishing.
Bridget makes films with a purpose and her objective is to leave the audience pondering about the impact they leave on others. This summer, she got her inspiring LGBT+ coming of age film, Wake Up, screened at the Museum of Contemporary Art. She also worked as a PA on season two of Chapstick, an LGBT+ comedy web series. Every year she releases a short film on her birthday and this August she released a Youtube hit with more than 170,000 views and an award-winning short film, The Girl at the Library. This film is very important to her because she believes accepting yourself and falling in love is a beautiful thing. She is working on a horror short film, Let Me In and a comedy, How Bout Them Apples that will be released by the end of this year. She wants to leave an impact on this world and make people realize love is love and to always spread love. Bridget can be contacted at [email protected].
